Here was what my first attempt should have been....thanks Sandra! If at first you don't succeed ...try again :-)
New meaning to the term newbie ....this blogging thing is totally foreign to me. As I begin my MALAT journey at Royal Roads, or perhaps I should say as I began my journey since it started July 6th, I have encountered many different emotions. Feelings of self doubt, fear, anxiety, excitement, nervousness and a huge desire to want to succeed. As the first week progressed and I began reading, reading and reading some more, I discovered that I was surrounded by incredibly bright, intelligent and well spoken classmates. This was all very intimidating as I read about each of them.
Then the topic of blogging was brought up in LRNT502, the idea of reflecting on my thoughts scared the crap out of me. Not only the idea of blogging but how to even create a blog had me feeling so out of my element. It took 3 nights (4 now playing after my little blip ) with different sites before I settled on this one. My blog is not perfect as I have yet to figure out all the fine tuning to add fancy pictures and features, but as the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, "the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step." So as a baby learns to crawl before they walk, I am beginning with baby steps as I learn this blogging thing.
One of the bigger challenges right out of the gate for me was the amount of reading involved. Trying to wrap my head around cultures of inquiry, theories of learning, epistemology and 'isms'. Trying to reflect on what knowledge is, how do I define it. Then move on to something called mind mapping. Another unknown in my world but in the end I managed to get it done and submitted on time even with a few computer glitches causing me to walk away a few times.
I must keep reminding myself this is the beginning of a two year learning and growing journey, I don't need to be perfect but open and patient right now as I begin to absorb this new territory and knowledge.
To be continued......
